TO MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY SHORTLISTED FOR THE EAST ANGLIAN BOOK AWARDS 2025!

John’s newest poetry book – To Make People Happy (Mariscat press, 2024) has been shortlisted for the East Anglian Book Awards 2025 in the Poetry category.

Founded in 2008, the Awards are designed to recognise and celebrate writers and books which shape the literary culture of East Anglia.

As a long-time resident of Norwich, John is delighted to be shortlisted and said: ‘I’m very proud of my poetry book and to have it recognised by the East Anglian Book Awards is really special.

‘There are some wonderful writers in Norwich , nominated this year and in previous years, and it’s great to stand amongst them!’

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Norwich in February 2026.

As the nights draw in this winter, John is out on the road with his new show There Will Be Tinsel. This celebration of the festive season combines stories, poems and even nostalgic trips into festive traditions past.
