Mustard!

John is currently hard at work on a culinary adventure – researching and writing about the history of mustard. What began as an exciting and interesting part of his All Shall Be Well forays into Norwich history and culture, has become a full blown obsession with the Colman family and with the origins and growth of the yella’ stuff all over the world!

Did you know that the Colman family were among the first in the UK to promote wellbeing and community for their workers? Do you know the origins of Trowse, Norwich’s waterside neighbour, as a Colman’s model village? Did you know that mustard is still being made in Norwich, thanks to a group of enterprising local farmers? You can find out all about the history of mustard, well-being in the workplace and people power in this special episode of the Food Programme on BBC Radio 4!

And this is just the beginning. John is working on a much wider book project and numerous interesting collaborations to bring the spicy tale of mustard to life!
